Overview
The Community Health Worker role is a temporary workforce development and applied learning opportunity designed for refugee and immigrant community members interested in careers in community health and human services. Participants receive structured training, supervised field experience, and community engagement opportunities to develop essential skills in outreach, health education, healthcare navigation, and community engagement. Under the guidance of IRC Health Program staff, trainees support culturally and linguistically appropriate health promotion activities, assist with community education, resource navigation, outreach events, and basic data collection, while gaining practical experience in community-based health and social service settings. The position serves as an entry-level pathway to build professional skills, workforce readiness, and career development, without requiring independent client case management or advanced service delivery responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach and Engagement
- Participating in community events and information sessions
- Conducting outreach calls and awareness campaigns
