ABOUT
The Women Leaders for Planetary Health Fellowship is an interdisciplinary program that empowers emerging and mid-career women professionals to lead action at the intersection of human health and environmental sustainability. It deepens participants’ expertise in planetary health, strengthens their leadership and policy engagement skills, and supports them in developing innovative solutions to climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and other environmental challenges.
Objectives:
- Empowering women professionals to integrate planetary health principles into health systems, policy, and community practice.
- Building capacity for systems leadership, communication, and advocacy at local, national, and global levels.
- Fostering cross-sector collaboration between health, environment, and development stakeholders.
- Supporting fellows to design and implement projects that create measurable impact in their communities or institutions.
- Creating a lasting global network of women leaders advancing planetary health solutions.
Key Components
- Foundational Learning
Fellows participate in a series of online modules that introduce the principles of planetary health, climate and environmental justice, leadership, and systems thinking. - Leadership and Coaching
Personalized coaching sessions guide fellows in building confidence, refining leadership styles, and aligning professional goals with planetary health priorities. - Applied Projects
Each fellow develops and implements a small-scale Planetary Health Action Project, addressing a key challenge in her context—such as sustainable healthcare delivery, mental health and climate resilience, or community-based environmental health initiatives. - Networking and Peer Exchange
The program fosters an international community of practice where fellows collaborate across disciplines, share challenges and solutions, and build lasting professional relationships. - Capstone and Reflection
At the conclusion of the Fellowship, participants present their project outcomes and reflect on lessons learned, leadership growth, and pathways for ongoing impact.

Eligibility
- A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in health, environment, or development sectors.
- Demonstrated interest in leadership and cross-sector collaboration for planetary health.
- Commitment to completing the full fellowship program while maintaining professional responsibilities.
- Proficiency in English (program materials and sessions are conducted in English).
