ABOUT
The World Health Organization (WHO) is hiring a Project Management Officer (P3 level) for a six-month assignment in Port Sudan. The officer will support the WHO Country Office in managing projects related to essential health and nutrition services, emergency response, and health system strengthening. Working within the Project Management Unit (PMU), the role focuses on ensuring effective and strategic implementation of WHO-led projects aligned with Sudan’s national health priorities and WHO’s overall mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Full Project Management Cycle: Provide technical oversight and coordination across planning, budgeting, execution, risk management, monitoring, and evaluation of project workplans.
- Monitor Implementation and Delivery: Work closely with technical teams and procurement to track activity execution and delivery timelines; identify and mitigate delays.
- Grants and Financial Oversight: Ensure proper use of designated funds, adherence to donor agreements, and accuracy in technical and financial reporting.
- Reporting and Documentation: Coordinate the preparation of reports, briefings, mission documents, and proposals; ensure timely submission of partner and donor updates.
- Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement: Organize and attend project-related meetings and implementation missions; facilitate follow-up on action items with internal and external partners.
- Innovation in Emergency Operations: Contribute to the design of flexible and responsive solutions for outbreak and health emergency operations, aligned with WHO’s Incident Management System (IMS) SOPs.
- Results-Based Management Support: Assist in promoting integrated, cross-programme approaches anchored in WHO’s results-based management framework.
- Resource Mobilization Support: Liaise with the Resource Mobilization Officer and contribute to funding proposals to secure immediate and sustained financial resources.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Public Health, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- Desirable: Formal training or certification in project management.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum of five years of experience in project management, including international exposure. Strong background in resource mobilization, partner reporting, and external communications. Experience in emergency settings is critical.
- Desirable: Prior work with WHO, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, or NGOs is an asset.

Remuneration and Benefits
- Base salary starting at USD 70,212 per year, subject to mandatory deductions (e.g., pension, health insurance).
- Post Adjustment: Approximately USD 2,487/month (subject to change based on cost of living in Port Sudan).
