ABOUT

Greenhealth Exchange (GX) is hiring a part-time, remote Accounting Manager (consultant) to support its mission of promoting sustainable purchasing in health care. The flexible role requires about 12 hours per week, with at least 5 hours during U.S. Eastern Time business hours, and offers autonomy, collaboration, and the chance to contribute to both health care and environmental sustainability. 

It is a green purchasing cooperative created by leading U.S. health systems in partnership with Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) and Practice Greenhealth. GX facilitates the procurement of products and services that are healthier for people and the planet, helping hospitals align purchasing with their mission of healing.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations and Reporting

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and forecasts
• Monitor bank activity, record deposits and disbursements, and ensure financial data is accurate and timely
• Oversee and coordinate the annual certified audit for GX and GM
• Prepare and manage the annual budgeting process
• Compile and present financial reports to the GX Board of Directors on a quarterly basis

Strategic Financial Management

• Provide financial insights and guidance to GX leadership to support decision-making and long-term planning
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of GX’s operations, revenue streams, and financial partnerships
• Manage intercompany accounting processes across HCWH, Practice Greenhealth, GX, and GM, ensuring accuracy and compliance

Collaboration and Communication

• Serve as the primary financial liaison to HCWH, Practice Greenhealth, and third-party vendors
• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and contribute to discussions on financial strategy and operational improvements
• Participate in meetings and provide financial updates to leadership and stakeholders as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent professional experience)
• Minimum of five years of accounting or finance experience
• Strong written communication skills
• Proficiency in managing budgets, audits, and financial forecasting
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities in a remote setting

Preferred

• Experience in the nonprofit or NGO sector
• Familiarity with intercompany financial relationships and nonprofit accounting practices
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative team environment
• Motivated by mission-driven work in sustainability and environmental justice
