THE YOUNG HEALTH PROGRAMME (YHP)
This programme is AstraZeneca’s global community investment initiative focused on preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among young people aged 10–24. The programme addresses key risk factors such as tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol, physical inactivity, unhealthy diets, and air pollution. YHP Kenya integrates health equity and climate-health considerations and is implemented in Mathare Sub-County (Huruma Division) and parts of Ruaraka Sub-County (Mathare North and Korogocho) within Nairobi City County

Key Objectives of the Role:
- Strengthen M&E systems and frameworks
- Ensure high-quality data collection and analysis
- Promote data-driven decision-making
- Support reporting and documentation of programme results
- Contribute to learning and adaptive programming
Key Responsibilities
1. M&E System Design and Management
- Develop and manage the programme’s M&E framework
- Coordinate evaluations, assessments, and research activities
- Align stakeholders on monitoring priorities and systems
2. Data Management and Reporting
- Oversee data collection systems and ensure secure data handling
- Analyse programme data and generate reports
- Document lessons learned and “most significant change” stories
3. Data Quality and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to data quality standards
- Conduct routine data quality assessments
- Improve existing M&E tools and systems
4. Capacity Strengthening and Learning
- Train staff and partners on M&E tools and systems
- Promote evidence-based decision-making
- Facilitate reflection and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Strengthen collaboration across teams and stakeholders
5. Safeguarding and Compliance
- Child protection standards
- Prevention of sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse
- Gender equality and inclusion principles
Required Qualifications and Experience
Academic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field
Professional Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in M&E coordination
- Experience working with MERL frameworks (e.g., logframes, theory of change)
- Familiarity with data collection tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK
Technical and Analytical Skills
- Strong data analysis and reporting abilities
- Experience working with youth, especially in urban informal settlements
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights
